Polar Circle #2

Day 2 on Prof. Molchanov
Saturday 23 June 2019

On the second day we pass the polar circle. I invite three students from Switzerland to join Amanda and me for a session of tai chi out of the wind at the stern of the boat. The constant movement of the waves makes everything feel like one long organic wave. I learn from the Russian oceanographer Anna Wesmann that waves do not transport anything, but is only a transference of energy. I like very much that notion. In that sense, waves don´t have a will. Amanda and I discussed how to present the project to the others, but we disagree how to share it. Amanda wants to go into the details of thing, whereas I think we have to be a little more pedagogic. Most of the other participants of this expedition are not artists, but they are scientists and academics, and they are not used to association and word games.
